GRANTHAM, PA - Johnny Troiano posted a hat trick and Carill Asanji scored the gamewinner in the final seconds as Rowan edged #25 Messiah, 4-3, in men's soccer action as the Profs move to 4-0 on the year.
 
After Messiah scored in the 85th minute to tie the game, Asanji scored his first gamewinner, and his second career goal, with just 24 seconds remaining to lift Rowan to the win.
 
Troiano got the Profs off to a flying start with his second hat trick of the season and the sixth of his career. He scored the game's first goal on a penalty kick, at 28:53, and then scored early in the second half to give Rowan a 2-0 lead. The senior All-American surpassed the 100-point mark for his career, as he now has 42 goals and 17 assists in his four years. 
 
Messiah got on the board just two minutes later, but Troiano scored his third goal at 66:28 as the Profs held a 3-1 lead.
 
The Falcons rallied, however, and Patrick Lee scored two consecutive goals, with the second in the 85th minute to tie the match, thus setting the stage for Asanji's gamewinner.
 
C.J. Norton made six saves in goal for Rowan as Messiah held an 18-10 advantage in shots.
 
After two road games in consecutive days, the Profs return home on Wednesday to host Cortland at 4 p.m. It will be a "White Out" with the first 100 Rowan students receiving free t-shirts.
