GLASSBORO, NJ -
Christian McGillen scored the game-winning goal in the 80th minute to lift #2 Rowan to a 1-0 decision over #4 Cortland in a Top 5 men's soccer showdown on Wednesday evening at the Rowan Soccer and Lacrosse Complex. The win improves the Profs to 5-0, which is the best start since 2016 when they started the year winning their first nine games.
The goal was set up after senior
Johnny Troiano took a shot that was blocked. McGillen, a junior transfer, collected it and scored from just inside the box for his second goal as a Prof, and his first gamewinner.
Rowan's freshman keeper
C.J. Norton made two saves to notch his first career shutout.
The Profs dominated the attack in the game, outshooting Cortland by a 15-4 margin while handing the Dragons (3-1) their first loss of the year.
Rowan heads on the road for the next two games, starting with a trip to Scranton on Saturday, September 13th at 4 p.m.
