GALLOWAY, NJ -- Rowan kicked off New Jersey Athletic Conference play with a 3-0 sweep (25-21, 25-20, 25-12) Tuesday night.
The Profs put together a blazing .374 hitting percentage (41-7-91) on the evening led by freshman
Jessica Smart who totaled a match-high 19 kills while hitting .545 (19-1-33) in the win.
Fellow freshman
Raven Albrecht kicked in 33 assists, seven digs and four aces as Rowan fought through the first two sets and later used a 16-4 run in the third to notch its first NJAC victory this season.
Stockton totaled a .136 hitting line (27-15-88) led by Kate Louer's team-high seven kills.
In that third set, the Profs racked up 13 kills with just one hitting error as 9-8 lead turned into match point. Part of the 16-4 stretch was an 11-0 spurt to get it to 24-11 before a kill from
Ciara Bradley put the wraps on the action.
Rowan is back at home here in Esby Gymnasium next Tuesday when Immaculata visits in a non-conference matchup in a 7 p.m. start.
