SCRANTON, PA -- Rowan suffered a pair of 3-2 defeats on Saturday at the Scranton quad match, falling to the host Royals (25-21, 25-20, 22-25, 14-25, 15-8) and Eastern (21-25, 25-21, 13-25, 25-20, 15-8).

Jessica Smart paced the Profs with 19 kills, including seven in the fourth set to help Rowan try to rally from a 2-0 deficit.
Alexa Kelleher added a career-best 13 kills while
Hutton Cordrey (12 kills/13 digs) and
Raven Albrecht (50 assists/12 digs) each added double-doubles but Rowan had its seven-match win streak come to an end.
Deanna Whelpley led all attackers with 20 kills for Scranton.
Eastern 3, Rowan 2
Smart remained white hot, leading three Profs in double-digit kills with 17.
Jena Kaul (15) and
Abby Chadwick (12) combined for 44 of the team's 52 kills. Kaul and Chadwick each served up three aces apiece.
A 9-3 run by the Eagles in the fifth and deciding set put Rowan on the ropes.
Eastern's Hannah Pringle collected 27 kills with teammate Alexis Standford who added 18.
Including Friday's 3-0 win over Union, Smart totaled 53 kills and hit .313 in the three matches over the weekend.
The Profs look to bounce back on Tuesday when Rowan heads to Stockton to open New Jersey Athletic Conference Play.
