GLASSBORO, NJ -
Christian McGillen and
Johnny Troiano each scored a pair of goals, and
Ryan Cleary added three assists, as #2 Rowan defeated Salisbury, 4-1, in a non-conference men's soccer matchup today. The Profs bounced back in dominating fashion after suffering their first loss of the season earlier this week and improved to 6-1-1 on the year.
Â
McGillen wasted no time, scoring just two minutes into the match, as he took a pass from
Ryan Cleary to give Rowan the quick 1-0 lead.
Â
Troiano netted his team-best seventh goal of the season at 17:20 as he took a pass from Cleary, carried the ball across the box and sent it into the left side of the net.
Â
McGillen teamed up with Troiano for his second of the game, as he took a pass from the senior and converted at 24:46 for a 3-0 lead. It marked his first multiple-goal game as a Prof.
Â
Cleary took a shot that was deflected and Troiano collected it and scored from close range for his second of the match at 56:48.
Â
Salisbury (3-3-2) ended the shutout when Dale Gordon converted a penalty kick in the 67th minute.Â
Travis Holiday played the first half in goal for Rowan, making one save and keeping the Sea Gulls scoreless.
C.J. Norton finished out the game, making four saves in the second half.Â
The Profs are back on the road on Wednesday with a trip to Arcadia, before opening defense of their NJAC crown on Saturday at home with the conference opener against Rutgers-Newark at 1 p.m.
