Volleyball Nets Wins Over Catholic and Lebanon Valley In Home Opening Trimatch Sweep

GLASSBORO, NJ -- Rowan extended its win streak to seven games as the Profs swept both Catholic and Lebanon Valley in the Profs' home opener on Saturday.

In the first match of the day, the Profs posted a 25-16, 28-26, 25-15 victory over Catholic led by double-digit kills from Jena Kaul (14), Jessica Smart (12), and Abby Chadwick (10). Kaul added four aces and three blocks (one solo). The team hit .276 (42-15-98) for the contest as well.

After leading from start-to-finish in the first set, the Profs used a late push to capture the second, where back-to-back kills from Smart helped break a 26-26 tie.

A 15-4 run in the third set opened up an 18-13 Prof lead, where later a run of six-straight points pushed the home squad to match point.

Freshman Raven Albrecht kicked in 31 assists, six digs, and four aces in the win.

Rowan used a balanced attack in the day's final matchup to help knock off the Dutchmen in three sets (25-12, 25-18, 25-10).

The Profs put down 16 total blocks led by Ciara Bradley's career-high six (one solo). Hutton Cordrey added four total while freshman Abigial Bivona notched a pair of solo blocks. Smart and Alexa Kelleher paced the offense with six kills apiece.

The middle match saw Catholic take down Lebanon Valley in five sets, 3-2.

Next up for Rowan is a trip to Scranton for a quad match beginning on Friday against Union. Then on Saturday the Profs battle the host Royals and Eastern.
