GLASSBORO, NJ - #23 Rowan used a balanced attack to defeat Montclair State in NJAC women's lacrosse action, 21-7, led by five goals from
Molly Green and four each from
Calista Burke and
Elaina Corson. The Profs, at 14-1 (4-0 NJAC), have tied the school mark for wins in a season with the 2018 and 2023 teams, all coached by
Lindsay Delaney.
Rowan honored its seniors for the final regular-season home game -
Calista Burke,
Molly Green,
Sydney Helmick,
Hannah Lombardo,
Katie Montenero,
Sophia Schiavo and
Mel Rodgers.
Green also led the Profs with six ground balls, five caused turnovers and four draw controls.
Alexis Lowry and
Fiona Lockhart scored three goals each with
Trish Gillen notching a team-high five assists.
Mel Rodgers made nine saves in goal to notch Rowan's sixth consecutive win.
Rowan stormed out to a 7-1 lead in the first quarter as Corson and Green scored two apiece. The Profs scored another seven goals in the second quarter, led by Lockhart with three, to build up a 10-goal lead, 14-4, at halftime.
Lowry had two goals in the third quarter, and Burke added one, as Rowan held a 17-6 lead. In the fourth,
Hannah Lombardo scored twice to help provide the final margin.
The Profs visit #13 TCNJ on Saturday at 1 p.m. with the NJAC regular-season title on the line as both teams are undefeated in league play. The conference's top four teams will play in the NJAC Semifinals on Wednesday, April 30, at the sites of the higher-seeded teams.
