PITMAN, NJ – Rowan's
Taz Cantey has been named the NJAC Men's Basketball Defensive Player of the Week for the week of December 15. It marks his first NJAC weekly honor of the season.
Cantey averaged 8.0 rebounds and 4.5 steals and 17.5 points as Rowan picked up its first two victories of the season, with a 67-56 win over Kean and a 71-70 win at William Paterson.
The senior's defensive rebounding, with eight vs. Kean and five at William Paterson made a difference in the victories. He recorded nine steals over the two games as the Profs forced a total of 36 turnovers while Cantey's ball pressure keyed the wins.
Cantey totaled 18 points, eight rebounds and five steals against kean and had 17 points, eight rebounds and four steals at William Paterson. He is Rowan's second leading scorer and rebounder with averages of 16.4 and 6.2, respectively.
Rowan (2-8; 2-3 NJAC) is now on break for the holiday, returning to action after the New Year. The Profs will play a pair of games at Stockton, taking on Christopher Newport on January 2 and Widener on January 3.
