GLASSBORO, NJ -
Kaylee Wenzel scored the "golden goal" in the second overtime to lift #14 Rowan to a 1-0 win over #23 TCNJ, which gave the Profs their fifth consecutive NJAC Field Hockey Championship. Rowan (16-5) earns the conference's automatic bid to the NCAA Championship and will learn their opponent on Sunday night at 9 p.m.
The Profs held a dominating 24-5 advantage in penalty corners and it was on the 24th that they broke through.
Gracie Merrick inserted the ball on the corner,
Alexa Ronning took a shot, that was deflected but
Tess Herman collected it and put another shot on goal. TCNJ's Brigitte Racey made the initial save, but Wenzel was there at her pads to push it in the cage at 75:25.
Mariah Juiliano made five saves to record her fourth shutout of the season.
Racey made 10 saves as Rowan outshot the Lions, 19-8.
Rowan will be making its seventh consecutive appearance in the NCAA Championship under head coach
Michelle Andre.
