#14 Field Hockey Moves on to NJAC Final with 5-1 Win over Kean; Profs Host TCNJ on Saturday at 5 p.m.

Merrick has the gamewinner and McClelland contributes a goal and assist

GLASSBORO, NJ - #14 Rowan used four consecutive goals, with the gamewinner by Gracie Merrick, to record a 5-1 win over Kean in the NJAC Field Hockey Semifinals. The top-seeded Profs move on to the NJAC Championship game against second-seeded TCNJ on Saturday at 5 p.m. at Coach Wackar Stadium while seeking their fifth consecutive title.
 
Riley McClelland had a goal and an assist on the evening while Mariah Juiliano two saves as Rowan's defense limited Kean to just five shots.
 
The NJAC has adopted digital ticketing for the championship and tickets will be available this evening. No cash will be accepted at the stadium. PURCHASE
 
Rowan (15-5) opened the scoring at 7:31 as Tess Herman sent the ball towards the goal and Lily Bataloni was at the post to tap it in for her fourth goal of the season.
 
Kean (9-9) tied it up minutes later when Lilly Fried sent the ball across the cage and Madison Brege was at the post to knock it in.
 
Merrick gave Rowan the 2-1 lead for good at 19:01 when Sydney Kowalczyk assisted on the goal, while starting the streak of four straight for the Profs. It was her third goal of the year and second gamewinner.
 
Alexa Ronning took a pass from McClelland and scored at 24:46 to give Rowan a 3-1 lead heading into halftime.
 
Aurelia McManis set up the next goal early in the second half when  took a shot and Wenzel deflected right in front of the goal. McClelland got her goal just two minutes later at 53 when she collected the ball in front off a Kean defender and pushed it in from the backhand side.
 
TCNJ defeated Stockton, 2-1, in the other NJAC Semifinal. Earlier this year, Rowan defeated the Lions in a game that went to double overtime and penalty strokes.
