Men's Basketball Falls to Delaware Valley, 100-93, Despite 24 Points from Cantey

DOYLESTOWN, PA - Delaware Valley led for the majorit of the game to defeat Rowan, 100-93, in non-conference men's basketball action this evening, despite four double-figure scorers for the Profs and 24 points from Taz Cantey.
 
Cantey scored a season-high 24 as he was 7-for-12 from the field with Brycen Williams adding 20 points as he made five three-pointers. Khalil Baker scored 16 while connecting on 6-of-9 from the field and Chris McCarron scored a season-high 15 points for Rowan (0-5).
 
Del Val (3-1) led by 10 points early in the second half, but Rowan used a 15-7 run and pulled within 57-55 after McCarron hit a three at 15:56. The Aggies built it back up to 68-59 and went up by as much as 13 points, leading 88-75 with under five minutes to play. The Profs cut it to 92-85 after a three-point play by Ife Okebiorun with 1:23 but Rowan ran out of time, and Del Val secured the win.
 
Rowan held the lead for less than three minutes at the start and Del Val took over from there, building up a 19-9 lead in the first six minutes of the game. The Profs came within 17-14 before the Aggies went up by double digits again, and as by much as 12, 33-21, with under eight minutes left in the first half.
 
The deficit was cut to 45-40 in the final seconds of the first half after free throws by CJ Hayes, but Del Val would own a 48-40 halftime lead.
 
Rowan shot 50.8 percent in the game but was 8-of-20 from three-point range. Del Val held a decisive advantage in rebounding, 43-28.
 
The Profs get a break this weekend and then head right into conference play on Tuesday when they visit #23 Montclair State.
