Volleyball Makes it Five in a Row After Tri-Match Sweep over DeSales and Brooklyn

GLASSBORO, NJ -- Rowan took down both DeSales and Brooklyn in three-set sweeps in the Profs' home tri-match on Saturday to extend the team's win streak to five games.

Against DeSales (25-13, 25-21, 25-20), the Profs totaled 10 aces, reaching double digits for the 12th occasion this season. Gabriella Cooper led the party with three. Offensively, Jessica Smart put down a match-high nine kills while Jena Kaul added seven.

Rowan took the first set thanks to a 13-4 run to close it out and the second after leading the entire way. Kaul notched five of her kills in the third and deciding set in part to a 13-4 spurt that kept the home team ahead the rest of the way.

The second match of the day (25-13, 25-14, 27-25) saw Smart lead the offense with 12 kills. Abigail Bivona kicked in a season-best seven kills and setter Raven Albrecht racked up 29 assists, six aces, and six digs.

The Profs broke an 11-11 tie with an impressive 12-2 stretch to claim the first set. Ten-straight points by the home squad to open the second helped build a double-figure lead.

In the third set, the Bulldogs looked to force a fourth set by rallying from a 19-10 deficit to tie things at 20-20. A pair of aces from Hutton Cordrey was part of a three-point swing before Brooklyn countered with four-straight points to get within set point (24-23). The Profs took advantage of two hitting errors to climb ahead for good and take the match in three.

The middle match saw DeSales win 3-0 against Brooklyn.

Rowan hits the road on Tuesday, heading to William Paterson for a NJAC matchup in a 7 p.m. start.
