GLASSBORO, NJ --
Ciara Bradley and
Ava Best each recorded a season high in kills to help Rowan to a 3-0 (25-13, 25-14, 25-19) NJAC victory over Rutgers-Newark Tuesday night here at a packed Esby Gymnasium.
The Profs, winners of four in a row, are still in the chase for the top playoff seed, sitting in second place behind Kean in first. Next Tuesday, Rowan heads to New Jersey City to close out conference play and with a win, the team can secure one of the two top seeds (and first-round bye). With a win and a Kean loss (to Montclair State), the Profs would clinch that top seed.
Bradley racked up 11 kills while Best added nine as
Alexa Kelleher (seven kills) and
Jena Kaul (six kills) also contributed to the team's .307 (41-14-88) hitting line on the evening. Kaul served up a season-best four aces as well.
Setter
Raven Albrecht added three aces with her 33 assists and eight digs.
For the Scarlet Raiders, Nicole Sullivan had six assists, three digs, and a pair of aces.
In the first set, Bradley totaled six kills of the 15 kills to put Rowan ahead, 1-0. Now in the third, it was Kelleher having the hot hand, registering all seven of her kills to aid the home team in a late scoring run to earn the three-set sweep.
