DALLAS, PA -- Rowan claimed a pair of victories on Saturday in at tri-match at Misericordia as the Profs defeated the host Cougars (22-25, 25-19, 25-23, 25-21) and Albright (25-19, 25-15, 25-17) for the team's 13th win in its last 14 matches.
Against Misericordia, the Profs had two players hit double digit kills in
Jessica Smart (match-high 16) and
Jena Kaul (10) while setter
Raven Albrecht posted her sixth double-double, finishing with 32 assists and a team-best 14 digs.
Ciara Bradley had five aces and
Abigail Bivona chipped in three solo blocks as well.
Down 1-0 to the Cougars, Rowan would take the second to even things up before Smart went wild in the third set, registering seven kills.
Now in the fourth, both teams battled through six ties and four lead changes. Misericordia tried to come back from a 24-17 score with four-straight points, but Smart closed the door shut with her final kill and the three sets-to-one victory.
In the day's second match, Rowan had nine different players record a kill led by
Abby Chadwick's game-high 11. The team recorded 34 assists on 35 kills led by Albrecht's 19.
Vanessa Hutchinson kicked in seven and
Aubrey Ward added six.
Leading 2-0 and up 18-16 in the third ran off a 7-1 run capped with an ace from
Hutton Cordrey to secure the team's second win on the day.
The Profs are back at here on Tuesday as Rutgers-Newark visits Esby Gymnasium for a NJAC matchup starting at 7 p.m.
