UNION, NJ -- Kean snapped Rowan's ten-match win streak with a 3-0 (25-23, 25-17, 25-14) decision Tuesday night in New Jersey Athletic Conference action.
The Profs, who hadn't tasted defeat since September 20th, also suffered its first conference loss on the season.
Freshmen
Jessica Smart (11 kills) and
Raven Albrecht (24 assists) helped lead the offense.
Jena Kaul and
Gabriella Cooper each served up two aces.
Smart and
Abby Chadwick each had four kills in the first set that saw a total of 12 ties and six lead changes and saw no lead greater than three points. The Profs got it to 23-22 on a kill from Chadwick, but the Cougars scored three in a row to go up, 1-0.
Kean's Ashley Torok put down six of her 15 kills in the second set, helping the home Cougars to a 2-0 edge. An 11-2 run by the home team broke a 9-9 score in the third.
Torok's teammate Cayley Elena Morrison added 14 kills and four blocks for Kean.
Rowan will look to rebound on Thursday as the Profs welcome Rutgers-Camden to Esby Gymnasium for a NJAC matchup beginning at 7 p.m.
