GLASSBORO, NJ -- Rowan remained unbeaten in NJAC play as the Profs swept past Montclair State (25-20, 25-14, 26-24) Tuesday night from Esbjornson Gymnasium.
The Profs (16-4, 4-0 NJAC) pick up its eight-straight win and remain in first in the conference standings.
Freshman
Jessica Smart led the charge with 15 kills, a match-high, while hitting .448 on the evening.
Abby Chadwick also reached double-digit kills (10) with teammate
Raven Albrecht collecting 31 assists, eight digs, and four aces.
Camryn Muuss had nine kills to lead the Red Hawks (17-4, 3-2 NJAC).
After taking the first two sets, the Profs had to fight through 10 ties and five lead changes in the third. Tied at 11-11, Montclair ran off a 9-4 run to go up five. A pair of aces from
Jena Kaul helped erase a three-point deficit to get it to 22-22. Now at 24-24, Rowan surged ahead getting a kill from Smart and a Red Hawk attack error to help close things out.
As a team, the Profs hit .290 (40-13-93) as a team and racked up 10 total blocks, five of which came from
Ciara Bradley.
Next up for Rowan is a tri-match on Saturday at Elizabethtown. The Profs square off with Lycoming at 2 p.m. followed by a contest against the host Blue Jays at 4 p.m.
