Women's Basketball Knocked Off at TCNJ, 58-46

EWING, NJ -- TCNJ knocked off Rowan, 58-46, Wednesday evening in a New Jersey Athletic Conference matchup.

Kate Herlihy netted a game-high 20 points with 16 coming in the third quarter, but the Profs were limited to five points in the final stanza. Defensively, Shayla Johnson grabbed eight rebounds and blocked a pair of shots and Charlotte Carlies pulled down seven boards and turned away three attempts.

The Lions' Nina Branchizio (16 points) and Arianna McCleod (15 points) each hit four three-pointers with teammate Grace Kowalski adding 13 points.

McLeod hit from beyond the arc three times in the opening quarter to help the home Lions to a 17-6 edge.

Rowan (8-5, 4-2 NJAC) took advantage of seven second-quarter Lion turnovers, helping whittle down the deficit to five (26-21) after two free throws from Carlies late in the frame. However, Myah Hourigan-Hutton hit a bucket at the buzzer to send TCNJ (10-3, 6-0 NJAC) to a 28-21 halftime lead.

Herlihy scored nine of the first 10 Rowan points in the third. Later, a three from Sabrina Araujo cut it to 35-34 midway in the stanza with her only trifecta of the game, but TCNJ built its lead back to 48-41 heading into the fourth.

The Profs will welcome Ramapo on Saturday to Esby Gymnasium for an NJAC clash starting at 1 p.m.
