GLASSBORO, NJ --
Vanessa Hutchinson surpassed 1,000 career digs to highlight Rowan's 3-0 (26-24, 25-23, 25-16) victory over Muhlenberg Thursday night at Esbjornson Gymnasium.
Match Highlights
Hutchinson entered the evening nine digs shy of the milestone as she finished with 11 in the win, notching her 1,000th dig in the latter stages of the second set. The junior currently has amassed 1,002 digs in 74 career matches.
As a team, the Profs hit .211 (38-15-109) behind the arm of
Jena Kaul, who notched a match-high 17 kills.
Maya Iovacchini added six and
Kyra Hissner chipped in five as Rowan snapped a four-game slide.
The Profs held a late 23-15 lead in the first set, but the Mules rallied to get it to 24-24. A kill from Kaul and an ace from
Brooke Adams helped seal up a 1-0 lead.
The second set was much like the first, as the home team got out to a sizeable advantage before the visitors came back and took a late 22-20 lead. Rowan, who totaled 16 team kills in the frame, responded with four-straight points to stay ahead for good and move things along to the third set, up 2-0.
Rowan turned it on in the third and deciding set, closing out the match on a 14-3 run.
Jenny Ryan registered a double double for Muhlenberg (25 assists/13 digs) while teammate Christina Marcin contributed a team-best 10 kills.
Adams finished the night with 30 assists, five aces and five digs.
Ava Best put up four blocks (one solo) as well.
The Profs will return to action a week from tonight as the squad heads to Ramapo for a NJAC clash with the Roadrunners in a 7 p.m. start.
