Profs notch first NJAC win

MAHWAH, NJ -- Rowan picked up its first NJAC win on the season in a 3-0 sweep (25-15, 25-13 25-23) at Ramapo Thursday evening.

10 different Profs collected at least a kill as the squad put together a 35-14-95 (.221) hitting effort on the night. Jena Kaul paced Rowan with a match-high 11 kills and added a career-best six aces.

Ava Best had four of the team's 13 kills in the first set as Rowan led from start to finish. In the second, a late 10-3 push by the Profs helped pull away in the 25-13 score.

Kaul notched six of her kills in a very tight third set, where neither team led by more than three points. After the Roadrunners ran off three-straight points to knot it at 21-21, Rowan put the finishing touches in the win, getting a match-clinching kill from Abby Chadwick.

Rowan served up 17 total aces, its second-best output of the year. Brooke Adams (28 assists/8 kills) added five with Vanessa Hutchinson (team-high 12 digs) three, Best with two, and Abigail Webster with one. Ciara Bradley chipped in six kills and two blocks (one solo).

Emily Shea totaled seven kills and Amanda Fatouh added six respectively as Ramapo hit .087 (22-18-85).

The Profs return home on Saturday in a tri-match with DeSales and SUNY-Maritime as fans are asked to wear pink in support of National Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
