Stockton Upends Volleyball, 3-1, in Profs' Conference Opener

GLASSBORO, NJ -- Rowan fell in its NJAC opener Tuesday night to Stockton, 3-1 (25-13, 25-17, 18-25, 26-24) at Esbjornson Gymnasium.

Down two sets, the Profs came out firing in the third and looked to force a fifth set, but the Ospreys held off a late Rowan push.

Stockton's Nicole Palmer recorded a triple-double with 14 kills (a match high), 14 assists, and 11 digs.

Hutton Cordrey posted four of her team-leading nine kills in the third set. Jena Kaul kicked in seven kills, while Ciara Bradley added six and Maya Iovacchini and Ava Best contributed 5 each. Brooke Adams concocted 26 assists and 12 digs for a double double. Vanessa Hutchinson collected a match-high 17 digs.

Rowan had 11 total kills in the first two sets, but responded in the third with 12 in the frame. An 8-0 run capped off with an ace from Hutchinson put the Profs up, 14-9. Stockton inched closer, pulling to 22-18 before Bradley put down two kills in a three-point spurt to move things to a fourth set.

In that fourth set, the two teams traded the lead eight times and were tied on 16 occasions with neither team leading by more than three points. After the back-and-forth, Rowan trailed 24-22 with match point on the line, but Cordrey's kill was the second of two Prof points to tie things up. Palmer ended things with her final kill to give the visitors the 26-24 decision.

The Profs are right back at it on Thursday when Muhlenberg visits Glassboro in a 7 p.m. start.
