Volleyball Closes Out Play at the Messiah Invitational

MECHANICSBURG, PA -- Rowan dropped a pair of matches on the final day of the Messiah Invitational on Saturday, falling in three sets to Cortland and later to the host Falcons.

Against Cortland (25-20, 25-17, 25-9), the Profs hit .087 (26-18-92) led by eight kills from Jena Kaul and six from Hutton Cordrey.

Anna Pilkey totaled a match-high 13 kills for the Red Dragons who had five players finishing with five or more kills.

Vanessa Hutchinson picked up 10 digs with Brooke Adame (18 assists) adding seven.

In the day's final match (25-19, 27-25, 25-20), Rowan totaled 32 kills but the Falcons were able to put together a .245 hitting attack (53-16-151).

Maya Iovacchini and Ava Best each registered seven kills with Kaul putting down a team-best eight. Adams was a dig shy of a double-double (27 assists/nine digs) while Best added three blocks (one solo).

Chayney Barnhart (12), Makenzie Adams (11), and Sarah Hart (10) all reached double figures in kills for Messiah. Cassidy Dell put down 22 assists, 16 digs, and eight kills as well.

The Profs will open New Jersey Athletic Conference play on Tuesday, September 24th when Stockton visits Esbjornson Gymnasium for a 7 p.m. start.
