Adams Becomes All-Time Assist Leader as Volleyball Battles to a Split at Knights Invitational

ASTON, PA -- Another weekend, another school record for Brooke Adams as the senior setter became the program's all-time leader in assists in Rowan's first match of the day vs. Ursinus at the Knights Invitational hosted by Neumann on Saturday.

Last weekend, Adams set a new program record for most service aces in a match against Drew. On Saturday, she etched her name in the record books again after notching the feat in the second set against Ursinus. Adams, who entered the day just 15 assists behind the all-time mark, now sits at 3,485 career assists, surpassing the old total of 3,424 set by Joelle McNulty.

After winning the first two sets, the Profs would ultimately fall, 3-2 (18-25, 23-25, 25-22, 25-17, 15-12) to the Bears. Rowan rebounded to sweep the host Knights, 3-0, (25-21, 25-19, 26-24) to close out action on Saturday.

Against Ursinus, Adams finished with 45 assists on the team's 56 kills, while adding five digs and four aces. Jena Kaul (14 kills), Ciara Bradley (10), and Hutton Cordrey (10) all reached double figures in kills. Rowan totaled 30 kills with only six errors over the first two sets, to jump out to a 2-0 lead.

Caroline Sherman led the Bears with a match-high 16 kills.

Kaul was one eight Profs with a kill against Neumann, recording a game-best 13. She added 11 digs for her first double-double on the year as well. Bradley and Kyra Hissner kicked in six enders respectively.

Up 2-0 against the Knights, the Profs led 15-7 in the third set but saw Neumann rally and take a 23-21 advantage. Now down 24-22, Rowan rolled off four points in a row to close out the three-set sweep.

The team resumes action on Friday at Messiah in a two-day quad match. First up is a matchup with Gettysburg on Friday, September 20th at 5 p.m. The day after, the Profs take on Cortland at 1 p.m. and the host Falcons at 5 p.m.
