ASTON, PA -- Rowan took down Cedar Crest, 3-1 (20-25, 25-10, 25-14, 25-16), Friday evening on the first night of the Knights Invitational hosted by Neumann.
Four players totaled eight or more kills led by
Jena Kaul who put down a match-high 14. Rookie
Ava Best chipped in 10, with
Maya Iovacchini with nine, and
Hutton Cordrey with eight. The team hit over .300 for the second match in a row, assembling a 50-11-111 hitting line.
Setter
Brooke Adams doled out 46 assists, inching the senior closer to the program's all-time record. Adams now sits a 3409 career assists, just 15 behind Joelle McNulty's total of 3424.
The team also totaled 16 aces.
Vanessa Hutchinson led the way with five while Adams and
Gabriella Cooper each kicked in four. Hutchinson was the team leader in digs as well, registering a match-high 14.
After the Falcons took the first set, the Profs stormed out to a sizeable margin in the second. Back-to-back aces from Cooper put Rowan up, 11-4. Combined with an eight-point run later in the set helped to tie things up at game apiece.
A 16-5 Rowan run in the third broke a 9-9 tie to help the Profs take a two sets to one advantage. In the fourth, the squad ran off an 8-2 spurt to close it out and pick up the win.
The Profs will resume action tomorrow when they face Ursinus at noon followed by a matchup with the host Knights at 2 p.m.
