Molly Green scored a career-high six goals, including the 100th of her career, and goalie
Mel Rodgers posted a second-half shutout as Rowan outscored Stockton, 17-6, in NJAC women's lacrosse action. The Profs improve to 2-0 in the conference and 5-10 overall.
Game Highlights
The Profs dominated the second half, building on a 7-6 lead and outscoring the Ospreys, 10-0. Rodgers made nine saves in the game without allowing a goal in 30 minutes.
Green scored the go-ahead goal at 5:30, on a free-position, to give the Profs a 6-5 lead. It was her fourth of the game, and the 100th goal in the three seasons of her Rowan career thus far. She becomes the 23rd player in program history to surpass 100 goals.
In a tight first half, Rowan held the early 2-1 lead after goals from
Elaina Corson and Green, but Stockton (13-2; 2-2 NJAC) answered with three consecutive goals in a span of 1:30 to take a 4-2 lead. Green was able to get one back for the Profs with :02 left in the first quarter.
Corson and Green again netted Rowan's first two goals of the second quarter which gave the Profs a 5-4 lead. Stockton followed with one at 6:44 to tie the game at 5-5. After Green's milestone goal pushed the Profs ahead for good, Corson added another with 59 seconds left in the half before the Ospreys added one with :03 remaining to cut the Profs' lead to 7-6 at halftime.
Rowan rolled in the second half, scoring four in the third quarter from
Fiona Lockhart,
Calista Burke,
Hannah Lombardo and Corson. The Profs added six straight in the final quarter, with two from Green and one goal each from Corson,
Trish Gillen, Lockhart and Burke, as Rodgers and the Rowan defense kept Stockton off the board.
The Profs go back on the road to face Ramapo on Saturday at 1 p.m. in an NJAC matchup.
