Corson, Green Score Five Goals Each as Women's Lacrosse Downs Kean, 19-9, in NJAC Opener

GLASSBORO, NJ – Molly Green and Elaina Corson each scored five goals as Rowan defeated Kean, 19-9, to win its NJAC opener in women's lacrosse. Both players matched their career-highs in the game as Rowan improved to 4-9 (1-0 NJAC).

Game Highlights

Calista Burke had four goals and an assist and Trish Gillen and Alexis Lowry had two goals apiece as the Profs ended a five-game losing streak, which included losses to a pair of nationally-ranked teams. Hannah Lombardo and Gillen each handed out two assists in the win. Mel Rodgers picked up the win in goal as she made five saves.
 
Rowan jumped out right away, taking a 4-0 lead as Burke scored three goals in the first six minutes. Kean answered back with a pair but Corson and Green finished off the scoring in the period as the Profs held a 6-3 advantage.
 
The Profs scored the first four goals of the second period as well, as Lowry netted two and Corson and Green each followed with one. Kean found the back of the net twice, but Rowan again closed out the quarter with two goals, both from Corson to give the home team a 12-5 halftime lead.
 
Gillen scored early in the third, followed one minute later from Fiona Lockhart and another goal from Green at 10:48 to increase Rowan's lead to 15-5. The Cougars would score once more in the period before Green, Burke and Gillen each added a tally to up the lead to 18-6.
 
Kean scored three times in the final quarter with Green putting the finishing touches on the win with her final goal at 6:12.
 
The Profs continue conference play when they host Stockton on Wednesday, April 17.
