Women's Lacrosse Rallies but is Edged in Overtime, 10-9, at Susquehanna

SELINSGROVE, PA - Two late goals by Elaina Corson weren't enough as Rowan was edged by Susquehanna, 10-9, in overtime in women's lacrosse action today, despite coming back from a two-goal deficit.

The Profs trailed 9-7 with over two minutes left in the third quarter, but Corson tallied an unassisted goal to pull Rowan within, 9-8.

The teams were scoreless in the fourth quarter until Corson notched a man-up goal at 10:37 to knot the game at 9-9. Rowan got off three more shots in regulation but couldn't capitalize and the contest went into the extra period.

Susquehanna's Kelsely Homberg scored the gamewinner with 3:27 left to give the River Hawks the victory.

Rowan (2-3) held a 4-3 lead after one quarter of play, with two goals from Calista Burke and one each by Molly Green and Fiona Lockhart, who finished with three goals on the day.
Susquehanna (4-2) outscored Rowan, 2-1, in the second quarter as the teams went into halftime tied, 5-5. Lockhart had the Profs' lone goal of the period.

The teams did their majority of the scoring in the third quarter and continued to trade leads and ties, with Hannah Lombardo, Lockhart and Corson getting the Profs' scores while the home team held the 9-7 lead.

Susquehanna held a 27-24 advantage in shots and Rowan's Mel Rodgers made seven saves on the day, with Kylie Durboraw seeing five minutes of action in net.

Rowan is back at home on Tuesday for a rare noon game during Spring Break when the Profs take on Skidmore.
