Pennington, Fracchiolla, and Watson Selected for NCAA Swimming Championships

GLASSBORO, NJ -- At the 2024 NCAA Division III Swimming and Diving Championships, Ella Pennington, Michael Fracchiolla, and Jack Watson will represent Rowan as selections were made late Wednesday evening.

Competition will get underway on Wednesday, March 20th and run through Saturday, March 23rd at the Greensboro Aquatic Center in Greensboro, North Carolina. The Greensboro Aquatic Center and the Old Dominion Athletic Conference will host the event. The official psych sheet will be released on Monday, March 4th.

Pennington, who earns an NCAA Championship selection for the second year in a row., has been selected to compete in three events, including the 100 fly, 100 back, and 200 back. All of her times came at the inaugural NJAC Championships, 55.27 in the 100 fly (#13th in DIII), 55.78 in the 100 back (14th in DIII), and 2:01.33 in the 200 back (10th in DIII), the latter breaking her own school record. At last season's national championships as a freshman, she was named a second-team All-American after finishing 15th in the 200 backstroke.

Watson makes his second-straight NCAA Championship appearance will compete in this year's nationals in both the 100 back and 50 free. He also claimed qualifying times at the NJAC Championships with a 48.41 in the 100 back (T17th in DIII) and 20.07 in the 50 free (#10 in DIII). Last year, he garnered two All-American finishes, first a sixth-place finish in the 100 back in a school record time for a first-team selection then a second-team All-American honors in the 50 free. He also competed in the 200 back, but did not qualify for the finals.

Fracchiolla will make his first NCAA Championship as the senior will swim in two events. Fracchiolla hit a 1:59.30 to qualify in the 200 breast (#13 time in Division III) and a 1:53.33 to  compete in the 200 IM.

The schedule for the aforementioned events are as follows:

Wednesday, March 20th
50 Free trials at 10 a.m. with the finals at 6 p.m.
200 IM trials at 10 a.m. with the finals at 6 p.m.

Thursday, March 21st
100 fly trials at 10 a.m. with the finals at 6 p.m.

Friday, March 22nd
100 back trials at 10 a.m. with the finals at 6 p.m.

Saturday, March 23rd
200 back trials at 10 a.m. with the finals at 6 p.m.
200 breast trials at 10 a.m. with the finals at 6 p.m.

A total of 260 men and 319 women will qualify for the DIII swimming and diving championships through regular-season performances.
