Corson Nets Five Goals to Lead Women's Lacrosse to 18-10 Win over Ursinus in Home Opener

Green scores four and Burke and Lockhart add three apiece

GLASSBORO, NJ – Elaina Corson scored five goals and Molly Green had four as Rowan earned an 18-10 win over Ursinus in women's lacrosse action today, as the Profs start the season with a pair of victories.

Game Highlights

Corson matched her career high in goals, while adding an assist, with Green also picking up an assist. Calista Burke and Fiona Lockhart each had three goals for the Profs, with Burke setting a new career-high Lockhart matching her personal best. Hannah Lombardo posted two goals and two assists with Trish Gillen adding one goal and two assists.
 
In the net for Rowan (2-0), Mel Rodgers stopped six shots as Ursinus (1-1) totaled 22 in the game.
 
The Profs stormed out to a 7-3 lead in the first quarter, scoring five straight goals after the teams were tied 1-1 early in the game. Green and Burke had two apiece in the spurt, and Corson closed out the scoring in the period with her second of the game.
 
Lockhart and Gillen netted goals in the second quarter, while Burke picked up her third, as the Profs took a 10-5 halftime advantage.
 
Ursinus opened the scoring in the third quarter with a pair of goals to cut the Rowan lead to 10-7. But the Profs countered with three consecutive scores, by Lockhart, Corson and Green to maintain a 13-7 lead.  
 
Rowan sealed the win in the fourth as Corson tallied the Profs' first two goals, with Green adding one more to own a 16-8 lead with 8:04 remaining. Lockhart tallied another and Lombardo scored Rowan's final goal of the game, with 1:36 to play before Ursinus tallied one with :04 left to provide the final margin.
 
The Profs get a week off and return to action on March 2nd when they visit Stevens, before returning home to face Washington (MD) on March 6th.
