Men's Basketball Downed by #21 Saint John's, 91-66, in Tournament Title Game at Catholic

Box Score WASHINGTON, DC - Rowan fell victim to a hot-shooting team in #21 Saint John's (MN) as the Johnnies defeated the Profs, 91-66, in the championship game of the Tom McKavitt Classic at Catholic University. Rowan has its three-game winning streak come to an end and is now 6-4 on the year.

Saint John's (10-2) had the identical three-point shooting effort (13-for-25) that Rowan had the previous day when the Profs took down #24 Catholic, 85-71.

Khalif Meares had 19 points and five steals to lead Rowan with Tyrese Myrick chipping in 12 points.

The game was tight in the early going before SJU connected on three straight three-pointers to take a 38-22 lead with four minutes to go in the first half and extended that to 47-25 by halftime. The Johnnies shot better than 50 percent from the field (17-for-31) and from three-point range (8-for-15), while the Profs struggled from the perimeter, making just 5-of-15 three-point attempts.

Saint John's maintained the 20-plus point lead the entire second half as it made 62 percent of its shots (16-of-26).

The Profs get an extended break for the holiday and return to action at home on December 30 when they host Drew at 3 p.m.
