Volleyball Senior Day Party Crashed by Lebanon Valley in a 3-1 Decision

GLASSBORO, NJ -- Lebanon Valley spoiled Rowan's Senior Day as the Profs fell, 3-1, (28-30, 26-24, 25-19, 25-23) to the Dutchmen on Saturday afternoon.

Prior to the game, the team and coaching staff took time to honor the five seniors on this year's squad: Brooke Adams, Kyra Hissner, Maya Iovacchini, Isa Kirchner, and Abigail Webster.

Both teams were up for a fight in a match that was highlighted by 37 ties and 18 lead changes throughout the four-set battle.

Rowan put together a 50-19-127 hitting effort (.244), led by 17 kills from Jena Kaul. Iovacchini and Ciara Bradley each kicked in nine. Bradley also added a personal best five total blocks.

LVC's Taylor McInerney (19 kills) and Mattea Penner (16 kills) totaled 36 of the team's 52 on the day. Penner added a team-high 16 digs while she and teammate Teaguen Reynolds each had six aces. The team would serve up 21 aces as well.

The first set lasted until the Profs fought back from a 28-27 deficit with back-to-back kills from Bradley and Adams to put the home team ahead. The Dutchmen got a kill from Jillian Jefferys and an ace from Reynolds to snap a 24-24 tie to knot things up at a set apiece.

In the third set, Rowan put down just nine kills in the frame and saw Lebanon Valley close out the stanza on a 13-2 run to go up 2-1.

The fourth set had the two teams wrapped up in 12 ties. With the Profs up 19-17, LVC rattled off four points in a row before Rowan fought to get it to 23-23. Kills from Reynolds and McInerney closed the door on a potential fifth set and help lock up the result.

Next up for the Profs is the NJAC finale against NJCU here on Tuesday at Esbjornson Gymnasium at 7 p.m.
