GRANTHAM, PA – Rowan fell 60-44 to Messiah in the championship game of the Messiah Tip-Off Tournament on Saturday.
Kate Herlihy netted a team-high 19 points but it was the Falcons who outscored the Profs, 21-9, in the third quarter to add to its 10-point lead at halftime.
Messiah's Reese Harden led all scorers with 21 points, hitting two of the team's six three pointers. Teammate Chloe Milanesi added 11 points, seven steals, and six assists.
Haley Selmer went for 11 points and six boards with
Charlotte Carlies grabbing seven caroms. Both Herlihy and Selmer were named to the all-tournament team.
Messiah started the game on a 7-0 run and would lead after the first quarter by seven points. The Falcons closed the first half on a 9-2 spurt to take a 10-point edge at the half (33-23).
Back-to-back three pointers from Messiah's Hope Cook to end the third quarter added to the home team's lead heading into the final frame which the Profs could not overcome.
Rowan returns to action next Friday, November 22nd in a contest at Brooklyn College.
