BROOKLYN, NY -- Brooklyn handed Rowan a 73-71 setback Friday night in non-conference action.
A career-high 18 points from
Charlotte Carlies plus a double-double from
Kristina Johnson (13 points/10 assists) and 18 points from
Jes Mastriano off the bench but it was the Bulldogs taking the lead for good late in the fourth quarter in the contest.
Brooklyn's Ameea Daniel went for a game-high 22 points with teammate Dior Doresy scoring seven of her 17 points in the fourth quarter alone.
In the first quarter, the Profs shot just 4-of-14 but hit on two three's and went 5-for-5 from the line. Carlies netted seven points to help the visitors to a 15-14 lead after one. Daniel scored 10 points in the second stanza as Brooklyn would take a one-point lead at the half (32-31).
Tied at 46-46 in third, Carlies netted the next four points, the latter bucket coming off a steal and layin to give Rowan a four-point lead. The Bulldogs pulled within 55-54 in heading to the fourth.
Dior hit all three of her shots, including a three-pointer with 1:40 left to give Brooklyn a 70-66 edge. Johnson hit a three-pointer at the buzzer to account for the final score.
Johnson,
Kate Herlihy, and
Reagan Russo all pulled down six rebounds. For Russo, the six caroms tied a personal best. Johnson, whose 10 assists were a career high, also chipped two blocks and a pair of steals.
Rowan begins NJAC play on Tuesday, as Montclair State visits Esbjornson Gymnasium for a 5:30 p.m. start.
