Volleyball Sizzles in 3-0 Home Sweep over William Paterson

GLASSBORO, NJ -- Rowan took down William Paterson, 25-18, 25-23, 25-20, to notch its fifth-straight win Tuesday night in New Jersey Athletic Conference action at Esbjornson Gymnasium.

Match Highlights

The Profs trio of Jena Kaul (11 kills), Ava Best (nine kills) and Isabel Kirchner (eight kills) totaled 28 of the team's 33 kills on the night. Brooke Adams (28 assists) and Gabriella Cooper each had three aces as Rowan avenged its playoff defeat last season to the Pioneers with the three-set sweep on the night.

Up 1-0, back-to-back kills from Kirchner capped a late 4-0 run to take the second set, 25-23. Rowan opened things up in the third, using a big 10-2 spurt, turning a tie contest in favor of the home team.

Kaul, who recorded five kills in the match-clinching set, served up an ace for a 23-14 edge where the Profs were to finally put away the Pioneers after a kill from Best to close it out.

Hope Arce-Reed led William Paterson with nine kills and added four blocks, but the team hit just .020 on the night (27-25-102) in suffering its first NJAC defeat.

Best, Adams, Kaul, Kirchner and rookie Natalie Johnson totaled 10 blocks with Johnson leading the way with three. The Profs recorded 44 digs with Vanessa Hutchinson pacing the home squad with a match-high 16.

Next up for Rowan is a home tri-match this Saturday against Misericordia and SUNY Canton. Action gets underway at 11 a.m. with the Profs and Cougars clashing in the first match of the day.
