STOCKTON, NJ -
Johnny Troiano scored a pair of goals, and
Dylan Aportela posted the shutout as #23 Rowan defeated Stockton, 2-0, in NJAC men's soccer action this evening. Rowan improves to 6-4-5 on the year, and 3-0-2 in the conference.
Troiano wasted no time getting the Profs on the board, as he scored his first goal just 2:29 into the match. The junior took a pass from
Chris Spicer and tapped it into the right corner of the net.
Just 20 minutes later, he scored his second goal.
Jake Homowitz, who transferred to Rowan from Stockton (5-5-4; 2-2-1) prior to this year, crossed the ball to Troiano to earn the assist on the goal at 22:45. It marked the fourth multiple-goal game of the year for Troiano, who leads the conference and the Profs with 11 goals this season. With the two goals, Troiano moved into 20th place on the Profs' all-time scoring list with 75 points (31 goals, 13 assists).
Rowan held an 11-6 advantage in shots and Aportela recorded three saves to earn his second shutout.
The Profs head north on Saturday for a first-place showdown with #7 Montclair State at 7 p.m.
