UNION, NJ -- Kean handed Rowan an 89-70 setback in New Jersey Athletic Conference action Saturday afternoon.
Nicole Mallard led the Profs with 16 points.
Kate Herlihy added 12 and
Sabrina Araujo with 11 respectively.
The first quarter saw the teams trade three-point daggers as the Profs hit on four from downtown while the Cougars drained six. Herlihy's triple ended the first quarter to cut into the Kean lead, 24-21. She opened the second with a three-pointer and later
Kristina Johnson would hit from deep to give the visitors the 27-26 edge. Kean was able to wrestle out a 43-35 advantage at the half.
Gigi Gamble's three pointer ended a 15-2 Kean run later in the third (63-45), but the Profs ended the frame scoring a 7-0 spurt to cut the deficit to 63-52.
The Cougars shot over 55% in the fourth quarter in helping outscore Rowan, 26-18.
Gamble (21 points) was one of four Kean starters in double figures led by Brittany Graff with a game-high 23 points.
Eliana Santana kicked in nine points, nine boards, and three assists.
Charlotte Carlies put down six points, six rebounds, a pair of blocks and a pair of steals.
Rowan will look to rebound on Monday as they head to face #10 Amherst on the road in a 3 p.m. tip.
