McLaughlin Hits Career-HIgh 14 Points as Women's Basketball Defeats William Paterson, 87-56

Profs connect on season-high 14 three-pointers in the win

Game Highlights

GLASSBORO, NJ – Jess McLaughlin scored a career-high 14 points to help Rowan to an 87-56 win over William Paterson in an NJAC women's basketball game at Esby Gym. With the win, Rowan moves to 6-5 in the conference, and 9-9 overall.
 
McLaughlin connected on 4-for-5 of her three-point attempts for the new personal best while senior Nicole Mallard chipped in 13 points. Kate Herlihy and Victoria Crooker added 10 points apiece in the win.
 
The Profs shot 60.8 percent (14-of-23) from beyond the arc in the game, for their best effort of the season in three-point percentage and three-pointers made. Rowan's defense held William Paterson (5-13; 3-8) to under 30 percent shooting, including 22 percent from three-point range.
 
Rowan opened up the game in the third quarter with its long-range shooting, converting 6-of-8 in the quarter. The Profs connected on five in a span of four minutes, using two three-pointers apiece from Victoria Crooker and Jess McLaughlin, and one from Reagan Russo to take a 60-41 lead by the end of the period.
 
The home team kept rolling in the fourth quarter, outscoring the Pioneers, 27-15. The Profs ran the lead up to a 20-plus point margin at the start of the quarter and took a 69-43 lead with over six minutes to play after a three from Herlihy and a layup from Mallard.
 
Rowan trailed early on but outscored the Pioneers, 16-9, in the second quarter to overtake the lead. Down 24-22, the Profs used back-to-back threes by McLaughlin and Araujo to take the lead for good, 28-24, and then owned a 32-25 lead at halftime.
 
William Paterson led by just 16-14 at the end of the first quarter, as the Profs cut a 14-9 deficit with a three-pointer by Russo and a layup from McLaughlin.
 
The Profs take to the road on Wednesday when they visit TCNJ for a 5 p.m. game.
