Ross Scores 20 as Men's Basketball Wins Sixth Straight, Defeating Rutgers-Newark, 95-56

Mikey Robinson, Jr., hits for career-high 15 on 6-for-7 shooting

GLASSBORO, NJ – Marcellus Ross scored a game-high 20 points and Ja'Zere Noel added 19 as the Rowan men's basketball team picked up its sixth straight win, rolling to a 95-56 win over Rutgers-Newark at Esby Gym.
 
Mikey Robinson, Jr., connected on 6-for-7 from the field to register a career-high 15 points and Khalif Meares chipped in with 11 points for Rowan, which improves to 12-4 (6-3 NJAC).
 
Rowan never trailed in the game, jumping out from the start with a quick 20-12 lead in the first eight minutes paced by 10 points from Ross. After Rutgers-Newark (8-8; 4-5) came within, 20-16, the Profs scored 11 consecutive points, led by five from Noel, to go up 31-16.
 
Rowan built upon a 38-22 lead with four minutes left in the half with a 7-0 run and went into halftime with a 48-30 advantage. The Profs hit 6-of-11 three-pointers in the first half and 13-of-27 from the field to build up the lead.
 
The second half was more of the same, and Rowan used an 11-0 run with four points from Robinson to increase the lead to 61-34 just four minutes into the half. Noel scored six in a row in a span of less than a minute as Rowan held a 74-43 lead with over 10 minutes to go.
 
The Profs reached their largest margin of the game, 95-55, on a dunk by Tim Myarick with 26 seconds to play.
 
Rowan's defense forced the visitors into 21 turnovers and held the Scarlet Raiders to a 2-for-11 effort from three-point range.
 
Next up for Rowan is a road game on Wednesday, January 17th, at Stockton.
