GALLOWAY, NJ - Despite 29 points from Rowan's
Ja'Zere Noel, Stockton broke open the game in the second half and held on for a 109-99 win over the Profs in an NJAC men's basketball matchup. The loss ended a six-game winning streak for Rowan (12-5; 6-4 NJAC) and gave the Ospreys sole possession of first place in the conference.
Noel, who scored 18 in the first half, grabbed a game-high 13 rebounds, with
Marcellus Ross adding 22 points as he hit six three-pointers.
Khalif Meares scored 19 points and had seven rebounds with
Booty Butler adding 11 points.
Trailing 49-45 at halftime, Rowan opened the second half with a 17-9 run at the start of to take a 65-58 lead. Stockton answered by outscoring the Profs, 17-3, to take a 77-68 lead with over 10 minutes to play. The Profs came within 81-74 with 8:22 to play but Stockton (12-5; 8-2 NJAC) ran off nine straight points to take a 90-74 lead and from there, Rowan could come any closer than a nine-point margin. .
The game was close throughout the first half as neither team led by more than four points. Both teams shot well from the perimeter as the Profs hit 7-of-14 from three-point range while Stockton connected on 54 percent (17-of-31) from the field.
Stockton shot over 50 percent from the field in both halves, while Rowan managed 48 percent for the game.
Rowan returns home on Saturday to host William Paterson in a 3 p.m. start.
