GLASSBORO, NJ – Rowan used a strong first half to earn a 4-0 win over Rutgers-Newark in NJAC men's soccer action today at the Rowan Soccer and Lacrosse Complex, while
Dylan Aportela and
Charlie Scanlon combined for the shutout, which is the second straight for the Profs.
The Profs (4-1-4; 2-0-0 NJAC) stormed out to a 3-0 lead in the first half, starting with
Turlough Gartlan notching his first goal of the season just four minutes in off the pass from
Johnny Troiano. Troiano then found the back of the net at 15:32, with the assist from
Gil Ferreira, for his team-high ninth goal of the year.
Luke Yates added one before halftime with his second goal in two games, as
Tyler Guadagno assisted.
Sergio Sola Garcia closed out the scoring at 61:54 with his second goal of the year, taking the pass from
Davide Caputo.
Aportela didn't need to make a save in 79 minutes, while Scanlon finished out the game making one, as Rowan outshot the Scarlet Raiders, 9-3.
Rowan, which received votes in this week's Top 25, heads to Kean on Wednesday, October 4
th for a match that was rescheduled from last weekend.
