GRANTHAM, PA -- Rowan went 1-1 on Saturday at the Messiah Quad, picking up a 3-1 win over Brockport but falling 3-0 to the host Falcons.
In the day's first match, a 3-1 victory (25-23, 25-12, 18-25, 25-20) over Brockport,
Jena Kaul (match-high 15) and
Ciara Bradley (10) combined for 25 of the team's 40 kills. Kaul  also added 11 digs with Bradley chipping in two blocks. Setter
Brooke Adams put up 35 assists and 12 digs to record a double-double along with Kaul.
The Profs had 10 or more kills in each of the three set wins, including 13 in the fourth and convincing set. After taking the first two, Brockport forced a fourth with its win in the third. In that fourth set that saw 12 ties and four lead changes, Kaul and Bradley totaled five kills in a row to break a 20-20 tie to go on an clinch the win.
Against Messiah (25-22, 25-23, 25-17),
Sydni Greenwood registered eight kills and a career-high five blocks (one solo). The Profs had three players in double-digit digs: Kaul (11),
Nia Ipeker (12), and
Vanessa Hutchinson (17).
The Falcons hit .235 (44-16-119) for the match, adding 12 aces. Chayney Barnhart paced the home team with a match-high 18 kills.
The first two sets had the Profs using late rallies to climb within reach but found themselves down 0-2. In the third, Barnhart had nine of Messiah's 17 kills in helping keep a lead throughout.
Rowan will get back at it on Tuesday when the team visits Stockton for a NJAC matchup in a 7 p.m. start.
