Barragan Has the Lone Goal as #17 Men's Soccer Ties with #23 Cortland, 1-1

Game Highlights

GLASSBORO, NJ – Jason Barragan's first-half goal helped the 17th-ranked Rowan men's soccer team to a 1-1 tie with 23rd-ranked Cortland at the Rowan Soccer and Lacrosse Complex. The Profs (1-0-4) remain without a loss in recording their fourth tie of the season.

Rowan opened the scoring at 10:07 as Aiden McGuigan carried it down the right side into the box and centered the ball to Jason Barragan, and he one-touched it into the left side of the net. It was Barragan's first goal as a Prof.

Cortland (4-1-1) didn't waste any time knotting the score, as on their possession, was awarded a free kick outside the box. Riley Williams connected from 20 yards out, putting the ball into the top left corner of the net at 10:59.

From there the teams remained scoreless despite each having a few good scoring chances.

Late in the first half, Cortland's Jordan Ott stopped a penalty kick and ensuing rebound as the teams remained tied, 1-1, at halftime.

Dylan Aportela made a season-high seven saves in goal for the Profs, while Cortland held a slim 12-11 margin in shots.

The Profs return to action on Saturday at home against CCNY at 5 p.m.
