CORTLAND, NY -- Rowan got its 2023 season underway on Friday with a 3-0 victory (25-16, 25-16, 25-11) over Fredonia State on the first day of the Cortland Red Dragon Classic.

Maya Iovacchini career-high five aces as the team totaled 11 on the day. Jena Kaul (12) and Isabel Kirchner (10) each recorded double-digit kill totals helping the squad post a 42-8-79 (.430) hitting line. After posting 15 kills in the first set, the team had just two hitting errors in the second and third. In total, nine difference Profs registered at least one kill on the day.

Fredonia's Kylie O'Brien registered a team-high six kills. Elora Sherman and Molly Cassidy added three aces apiece.

Tomorrow, the team gets back at it with two matches starting at 11 a.m. against the host Red Dragons before a matchup with St. Lawrence at 1:30 PM.
