SALISBURY, MD – Davide Caputo scored a first-half goal to help Rowan force a tie with Salisbury, 1-1, in the season opener for both teams at the Sea Gulls' Elmer Lord Classic.
 
Chris Spicer set up the Profs' goal when he took a shot from 20-plus yards out that hit the crossbar. Caputo collected it and put it into the lower right corner of the net at 29:09 for Rowan's first goal of the 2023 season.
 
Salisbury got on the board first, 16 minutes in, on a goal by Alex Floyd.
 
The Profs outshot the Sea Gulls by a 14-7 margin and Rowan keeper Dylan Aportela made three saves on the day.
 
Rowan (0-0-1) is back in action on Saturday at the tournament when it faces St. Mary's (MD) at Noon.
