GLASSBORO, NJ – Freshman
Elaina Corson scored five goals as the Rowan women's lacrosse team defeated visiting Susquehanna, 18-8, in non-league action, giving the Profs their fifth win in the last six games to improve to 8-3 on the year.
Corson tied her season-high while Rowan received three goals apiece from
Molly Green,
Michaela Donnelly and
Jamie Cutrera, with
Hannah Lombardo adding a pair of scores.
Erin Renshaw and
Julianna Corson dished out two assists apiece, with Cutrera adding one.
Rowan scored seven goals in the second quarter to build up a commanding 11-4 lead by halftime.
Elaina Corson had four goals in the period, including her 20
th of the season, with Donnelly,
Fiona Lockhart, and Lombardo adding one each.
In the third, Rowan had goals from Green and
Jamie Cutrera, but Susquehanna (6-6) was able to cut the Profs' advantage to 13-7.
The Profs opened the fourth quarter by rattling off three goals in a span of less than three minutes with Lombard taking a pass from Renshaw at 8:15,
Elaina Corson finding the net at 7:29 and Cutrera scoring at 6:53. After a goal by the River Hawks with over four minutes remaining, Rowan earned the 10-point final margin as
Julianna Corson assisted on goals by Donnelly and Cutrera in the final two minutes.
Green helped the Profs to a strong start by tallying two of the Profs' four goals in the first quarter, with Donnelly and
Julianna Corson each adding one as Rowan staked a 4-1 lead.
Rowan held a dominating 32-16 margin in shots on goal and
Reilly Shaup made eight saves to earn the victory.
The Profs are idle this weekend and return to action on Tuesday, April 11 for an NJAC showdown at fourth-ranked TCNJ, with a start time of 4 p.m.
