EWING, NJ – Fourth-ranked TCNJ scored four consecutive goals in the third quarter to pull away and defeat Rowan, 14-6, in NJAC women's lacrosse action.
Elaina Corson and
Jamie Cutrera had two goals apiece for the Profs, who fall to 8-4 (0-1 NJAC) in their conference opener.
Julianna Corson put the Profs on the board first, taking a pass from sister Elaina and scoring at 13:55. But TCNJ answered with six in a row, including three straight from Ally Tobler, with two near the end of the first quarter and the other at 12:47 of the second.
With TCNJ (10-2; 2-0 NJAC) leading 6-1, Cutrera scored two goals, one assisted by
Michaela Donnelly, to pull Rowan within 6-3 at halftime.
The Lions opened the second half with four goals in a row, as Anna Devlin scored three, and TCNJ held a 10-3 lead with 3:09 remaining in the quarter.
Fiona Lockhart tallied one for the Profs before the end of the quarter.
The home team increased its lead to 12-4 in the final quarter and
Elaina Corson netted two unassisted goals for the Profs' final goals of the game before TCNJ netted two in the final six minutes to provide the final margin.
Rowan returns home on Saturday to host Ramapo before hosting Senior Night on April 19 with a non-league contest against Farmingdale State.
