GLASSBORO, NJ – The Rowan women's lacrosse team had 11 different players score goals as the Profs rolled to a 22-1 win over Ramapo in NJAC action today. Freshman
Elaina Corson was at the top of the scoring column with four goals and three assists to tie her season-high with seven points as Rowan improved to 9-4 (1-1 NJAC).
It was the most goals scored by the Profs since March 30, 2019, when they defeated Cabrini, 22-2. The outcome is also tied as the second-highest scoring margin in a game, matching a 22-goal margin in a 23-1 win over Cedar Crest in 1994. The school record is a margin of 23 goals by the 1994 team against Philadelphia Textile (24-1).
Molly Green scored three goals while
Jamie Cutrera,
Erin Renshaw,
Hannah Lombardo,
Julianna Corson,
Fiona Lockhart and
Maddy Winch had two goals apiece. The remainder of Rowan's goals came from
Trish Gillen,
Leah Corkhill and
Calista Burke
Rowan scored eight goals in the first eight minutes of play, and finished the first quarter with a commanding 12-0 lead.
Elaina Corson had two goals and two assists in the quarter, including an assist to her sister Juliana, while Green also had a pair of goals and notched her 20th of the season.
Green and
Elaina Corson started the scoring in the second quarter in which the Profs would score five.
Fiona Lockhart netted a goal and senior
Maddy Winch tallied the first goal of her career at 7:56.
The Profs added two in the third, from Lockhart and Burke, and then in the fourth, scored two more from Cutrera and Winch to give them a 21-0 lead. Ramapo (4-8; 0-3) scored its lone goal with 6:51 remaining and Corkhill finished out the game with a goal at 1:18, off a pass from
Julianna Corson.
Rowan, which outshot the Roadrunners by a dominating 40-2 margin, saw goalie
Reilly Shaup earn the win making one save in 38 minutes, with
Mel Rodgers sharing time in goal.
The Profs will take a break from conference play and host Farmingdale State on Wednesday, April 19th at 6 p.m. with the team's seniors being honored prior to the game.
