JERSEY CITY, NJ -- Rowan had its seven-game win streak come to an end as the Profs fell, 93-76, at New Jersey City Wednesday evening in a New Jersey Athletic Conference matchup.
Eliana Santana paced the Profs with a season-high 19 points, going for a career-best 10-of-11 from the free throw line.
Grace Marshall added 13 points and
Nicole Mallard kicked in 10 but Rowan could not find a way back from a 10-point halftime deficit.
NJCU's Damaris Rodriguez posted a triple-double with game highs of 30 points, 14 assists, and 10 rebounds. As a team, the Gothic Knights shot 50% for the game and over 60% in the final quarter.
Trailing early in the first, Rowan went on a 15-2 run capped by a three-point play from Santana to give the Profs a 17-11 lead, but Jersey City was able to tie it at 21-21 heading into the second. Rodriguez scored 11 points in that second stanza, adding three three-pointers. Rowan, who hit on just 3-of-17 in the frame, faced a 44-34 score at halftime.
Rowan hit on its first four shots of the third, including a pair of back-to-back three's from Marshall and
Savanna Holt. Holt's triple got it to 48-44, but Jersey City outscored the Profs, 21-10 over the next 8:28 in the quarter to help keep a double-digit lead into the fourth.
The Profs return home to face off with Rutgers-Newark here on Saturday at Esbjornson Gymnasium in a 3 p.m. tip. as
