PISCATAWAY NJ -- Action concluded at the 2023 Metropolitan Conference Championships (METS) on Sunday as the Profs finished third of 13 scoring teams at the four-day event held at Rutgers University.
FINAL RESULTS
In the 200 backstroke finals,
Tobias Cahnbley also hit a PR, clocking in at 1:49.56 where he was second and would hit an NCAA B cut.
Justin Goglia was sixth in the event in a season-best time of 1:52.66.
Joe Rucci clipped his PR time in the 200 fly, winning the event in a time of 1:49.30, an NCAA B cut.
Kevin Yanagisawa was third (1:51.56), in a season-best mark.
Paul Riter took third in the 100 free (45.99) but his time of 45.97 in the preliminaries was a personal best.
Michael Fracchiolla competed in the 200 breaststroke, as his time of 2:01.52 in the prelims was a PR. He then stopped the clock 2:02.31 in the finals to place third overall.
Jimmy Kundrats took fifth (2:03.10).
Robert Gagnon swam a PR time of 16:20.91 in the 1650 meters to place fifth.
The 400 free relay of Riter,
Jack Watson,
Alex Volin, and Cahnbley tabbed an NCAA B cut time of 3:00.20 to place second.
Rowan totaled 1203.5 points while Merchant Marine had 1476 for second and TCNJ with 1696 for first place overall.
Selections to the NCAA Championships will be made next week as the Profs have several swimmers in the mix for selection contention.
