Women's Basketball Notches Road NJAC Win at William Paterson, 66-58

WAYNE, NJ -- Four players finished in double figures to help lift Rowan to a 66-58 NJAC win at William Paterson on Saturday.

Eliana Santana led the Profs with 14 points while Kate Herlihy kicked in 12. Savanna Holt went for 11 and Jess McLaughlin netted 10 off the bench as Rowan won its third contest in a row.

Rowan battled back from a 12-point deficit in the first quarter to get it within six after the first 10 minutes. Now tied at 38-38 at halftime, the Profs limited the Pioneers to 3-of-13 shooting in the third quarter as Rowan outscored the home team, 17-8, in the frame. McLaughlin opened the fourth with a three to give the Profs a double-digit lead.

William Paterson climbed within 60-55 with 2:18 to play, but back-to-back Rowan steals on the next two Pioneer possessions led to layups from Herlihy and McLaughlin respectively to help put the game out of reach.

Brianna Smith led the Pioneers with 16 points. Teammate Renee Wells contributed 14 and Patricia Walsh scored 10.

Holt hit three of the team's eight three-pointers on the day. Kristina Johnson pulled down a career-best nine rebounds as the Profs won the battle of the boards, 42-32.

Rowan returns to action on Wednesday when Rutgers-Camden visits Esbjornson Gymnasium in a 7:30 tip.
