James Fara,
Vincent Guarino, and
Robert Stashek all were named to the 2023 PhillySIDA Football Academic All-Area Team.
This is the third year in a row Stashek was honored with Fara nabbing his second accolade. Blanks and Guarino earn the first academic honor.
The team is voted upon by the sports information offices of 30 institutions from the Philadelphia metropolitan area. For a student-athlete to be eligible for Academic All-Area honors, he/she must be in at least their second year at the institution and carry a cumulative grade point average of 3.30 or better.
Stashek is a Health & Physical Education major as well as a Rowan Scholar-Athlete of Distinction while named to the All-NJAC First Team. Fara is majoring in Sports Communications who was selected as an All-NJAC Honorable Mention.
Blanks and Guarino both were selected to the All-NJAC Second Team this season.
A total of 25 student-athletes were honored on this year's team, led by Ursinus that featured six (Justin Collier, Billy Cook, Ryan DiVergilis, Anthony Esposito, Brett Gross) including the performer of the year in Ryan Bodolus. Penn had five players (Jack Fairman, Jake Ligos, Jack Purcell, Aiday Sayin, and Joey Slackman), Villanova with four (Brendan Bell, Michael Corbi, Ty Trinh, and Connor Watkins), and Widener with three (Isaac Hostetter, Colin Murt, and Ryan Pattison). Jordan Magee and E.J. Warner of Temple along with Patrick Methlie of West Chester were also honored.
Rowan ended the 2023 campaign with a 5-5 overall record and a 4-2 mark in conference play.
